ARRIVAL AT LEH
Board an early morning flight to LEH. On arrival at the Leh Airport, our representative would receive you and transfer you to your booked hotel. Relax after taking lunch. Since Leh is situated at a height of 11000 ft above sea level, it is recommended to get acclimatized to the weather and hence the first day is for complete rest and getting used to the place. Do not indulge in any strenuous activity on Day 1. Lunch, Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel.
SIGHTSEEING OF SANGAM, MAGNETIC HILL, GURUDWARA, SPITUIK MONASTRY AND HALL OF FAME
Day 2 starts with a quick breakfast after which you would proceed with the sightseeing tour of Ladakh. The first point you would drive is towards the bank of INDUS RIVER till SANGAM.
This beautiful and serene point is where the ZANSKAR RIVER and INDUS RIVER meet creating a picture postcard photograph. Enjoy the cool breeze as you drive along the Indus River visiting the famous PATHAR SAHIB GURUDWARA which was built in the memory of GURU NANAK DEV at a height of 12000ft above sea level. After paying your respect, continue to drive till the MAGNETIC HILL, a small stretch of road where cars defy gravity as this mysterious road attracts metallic objects, making your car go on your own at a speed of 20 kms/hr. Move further and you would reach the LEH HALL OF FAME , a museum maintained by the INDIAN ARMY and dedicated in the memory of the soliders who lost their lives in Indi Pak wars, the last being the Kargil War, so go there and feel patriotic. Later in the afternoon, you shall visit the SHANTI STUPA, a Buddhist white domed Stupa on a hilltop. Apart from having a religious significance, this place is a tourist attraction because it offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Don’t forget to click photographs and then proceed towards the LEH PALACE, a former royal palace overlooking the LEH town and is the tallest building of that era with nine storeys. The palace is open to the public to see the picturesque view of the Himalayan surroundings as well as the Museum which has rich collection of jewellery, ornaments, paintings and dresses of that era.
After soaking in the history, return to hotel and take dinner and retire for an overnight stay after a tiring and fruitful day.
TOUR OF KHARDUNGLA PASS, NUBRA VALLEY AND HUNDUR SAND DUNES
After having an early breakfast, start Day 3 with a drive the KHARDUNGLA PASS. The 120 kms drive to the WORLD’S HIGHEST MOTARABLE ROAD at 18832 feet above sea level would take around 4-5 hours. During your drive, you would pass through snowcapped peaks and the mesmerizing Himalayan mountain views. The road then passes through a bridge which is on the Glacier and which has mention in the Guinness Book of World Records. Drive a little more and you would pass through a beautiful Valley which is known as the NUBRA VALLEY. The Nubra Valley is an extremely picturesque and is often called the Oasis of Ladakh. It’s a photographer’s delight as one can photograph some of the most colorful trees of the region which are found here. After clicking to your heart’s delight, you would reach the camp site and visit the SAND DUNES and if you have luck on your side, you might be able to see the TWO HUMP BACTRIAN CAMELS. Have fun in the Sand dunes and then go back to your Camp site. Dinner and Overnight stay at Camp.
NUBRA VALLEY TO LEH
After breakfast, proceed towards the DISKIT MONASTRY on Day 4. The DISKIT MONASTRY. The Diskit Monastery is the largest and oldest Buddhist Monastery and is 515 years old. It is situated on a hill top and has a huge state of Lord Buddha. Every year the monastery conducts the famous DOSMOCHE FESTIVAL in the month of February which attracts a lot of tourists. You can also enjoy the panoramic views of the NUBRA VALLEY and later take a walk around the town of Diskit and explore the village market. After doing a little shopping, drive back to LEH. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Leh.
DAY EXCURSION AT PANGONG LAKE
Day 5 starts with an early breakfast, after which you would drive for PANGONG LAKE which is 155 kms away from LEH and takes around 5 hrs. to reach. The PANGONG LAKE is the highest land locked lake situated at the height of 14000 ft (4267m) above sea level. You would pass through CHANGLA PASS situated at the height of 5486 m to reach Pangong Lake.
Once you reach the lake, you would be amazed to see the long narrow basin of inland drainage 130 kms long with the widest point being around 6-7 kms which bisects the India – china border. You would be mesmerized to feel so close to such a pure and serene environment. Drive back to LEH. Dinner and Overnight Stay at hotel.
DEPART LEH
Day 6 is the day when the official LADAKH TOUR ends. In the morning, you would be transferred to the hotel where you would board the flight for your destination.
